These scrapbooks contain newspaper clippings and ephemera from the 1962 Seattle World's Fair, also known as the Century 21 Exposition. Volume 1 contains ephemera from 1962 and clippings about the Fair's construction, preparations for it, and promotion of it from April to November 1961. Volume 2 holds clippings about preparations, promotions, problems, installations, and planned exhibits at the Fair. Volume 3 covers the last of the preparations and the openings of the Space Needle, the Monorail, and the Fair. Volume 4 contains clippings about the Fair, its visitors, exhibits, and entertainments. Daily and total tallies are marked in pencil throughout. Volume 5 includes clippings about the Fair, its closing ceremonies, and its demolition, and subsequent retrospectives from a year later. It also contains ephemera, such as a sea-shell, a Century 21 Club membership card, tickets, a Century 21 postcard, advertising brochures, and pamphlets from some of the exhibits.
